Listen now | A real, unfiltered debrief from the first week of running Analog Roots and Mastery Vivas with real students — the wins, the scheduling breakdown that ate my Vivas, and the AI-bot fix I'm piloting next
Good thoughts, Jon. Thanks. I really like how you are learning about your students each day and trying to understand where they are coming from based on the questions they ask and the answers to your questions that they give.
Joel — great to hear from you. How are things at MEF? It's been years since I visited.
Appreciate the comment, and honestly, this is what keeps me going. Every student records a short selfie video for me, and I spend real time watching them and taking notes. One kid mentioned he loves fishing — I'm going to build some of our conversations around that this year. Small thing, but it's how content stops being just content and starts being about an actual kid.
Things at MEF are clipping along. We had Eric Mazur give our commencement address in July. I'll be doing a session on FL in September for our team and I'd like to mention the three-fold system you're using. I think it makes a lot of sense in this new AI era. But, I also think that Flipped requires us to know a lot about our students. We might like the innovative changes in tech but that shouldn't replace our attempt to really know our students. Hence my comment and your attempt to connect with the kid who likes fishing. So, I think I'll begin by talking about Gen Z students and what they are like :)

Cheers,
